At times, we might drop our guards and find ourselves attacked in one way or another. Maybe it’s our business suffering from a competitor’s machination or someone with a personal vendetta. In QiMen, there is a formation called Double Deception and it’s perfect for launching a counterattack.
In today’s world, we are constantly under attack even when we are the one practicing walking the path of peace and neutrality. It is the usual norm, though there are exception to the rules, that when we have something of value others will not hesitate to take advantage.
No matter if we run our own business, work in a large company or pursuing a relationship, there is a need to be constantly on our guards less we come under attack from rivals or petty individuals with their own personal vendetta against us for one reason or another.
Which is why it is good to always have a backup counterattack plan in place. Do take note that we are not asking you to simply launch an attack on another party. This is a counterattack, a method of defence when we are under attack from others.
Sometimes we just cannot take a slap lying down and not retaliate. Patience has its limit and we do have a reputation to protect for future undertakings.
In QiMen Dun Jia, there is actually a formation that can be executed to launch a successful counterattack when one’s position is severely threatened. This formation is known as the Double Deception.
It is part of the 3 Deceptions, of which the first one, the Real Deception has been explored in last month’s article.
The Double Deception structure is also one that is hard to come by because the day, hour and palace also need to fulfil certain criteria. Let’s take a look at the example below:
In the QiMen chart above, the Xun palace forms the Double Deception (or Chong Zha) structure because it fulfils all the required criteria.
To form the Double Deception structure the palace in question needs to contain the Nine Earth deity, any one of the Three Nobles stems (Yi Bing or Ding) for the Heavenly Stem; as well as the Rest, Life or Open Door.
During the day in question and within the hour pillar, it would be best for the individual to sit in the Xun or Southeast area with his or her back facing the Southeast direction. Plan and execute your counterattack from this position. It is as simple as that.
In a nutshell, the counterattack works by sending whatever negative machination being inflicted on you back to the party inflicting them. This structure also works well to remove any negativity you may have incurred from any source at all like a stain remover.
Let’s be clear here that this is not about revenge but self-defence. This structure favours counterattack in the form of ‘return to sender’. It is more akin to sending out a warning signal with the counterattack so that others will not try to attack you again in future.
Below are some simple exercises to gauge your understanding of the Double Deception structure:
