Staying Below the Radar

When facing bigger threats from rivals and competitors who have more resources, sometimes it is best to fight smart instead of taking them head on. You can lay low and conceal yourself from your enemies making yourself a non-target using this formation known as Real Deception.

In today’s cutthroat world of competition be it in business, the workplace and even in love, the end usually justifies the means. I don’t want to sound pessimistic and exaggerated but it is what it is. The modern times have managed to bring out both the best and the worst of human nature.

Sometimes, the best and the worst may not be mutually exclusive. You need to be your worst self to achieve your best result.

In the workplace especially, if the company you worked in is riled with office politics then you should do your best to remain inconspicuous and not get in the crosshair of any one faction or ambitious individual. You can work on your own plan of progress the best without these external obstructions.

But to remain constantly under the radar can be tough. Ask anybody who’s tried. Toeing the line on one end can inadvertently mean stepping on the leopard’s tail on the other end. Wouldn’t it be good if there is a way to make you seem invisible and non-threatening to all warring factions?

In QiMen Dun Jia, there is actually a formation that can be executed to do just that. Make somebody who doesn’t want to be in the spotlight stay completely under the radar. As if he or she is covered by a cloaking device from a sci-fi fiction or movie.

Don’t believe me? The formation is known in QiMen parlance as the Real Deception.

The Real Deception is an auspicious QiMen structure used to deceive one’s opponent and is categorized with two other structures also used for deception purposes under the 3 Deceptions.

Since it is a special structure, naturally it would be hard to come by because the day, hour and palace need to fulfil certain criteria.  Let’s take a look at the example below:

The QiMen chart plotted above is just an example for this article’s purposes. Nobody in their right mind will choose to execute any important activity between 1 to 3 in the morning! 😉

In this chart, the Kun palace forms the Real Deception structure because it fulfils the required criteria. To form the Real Deception structure the palace in question needs to contain the Great Moon deity, any one of the Three Nobles stems (Yi Bing or Ding) for the Heavenly Stem; as well as the Rest, Life or Open Door.

During the day in question and within the hour pillar, it would be best for the individual to sit in the Kun or Southwest area with his or her back facing the Southwest direction. It is as simple as that.

This formation also works well for concealment purposes or any activity that requires secrecy. When used correctly, you’ll appear as a non-threatening figure and would be left alone in any machination planned by your rivals. In addition, your enemy would also be likely to reveal their weaknesses.

Below are some simple exercises to gauge your understanding of the Real Deception structure:

Q1. The Real Deception is part of which auspicious structure category in Qi Men Dun Jia?
Q2. Which combination of Door, Deity and Heavenly Stem below in the palace of a QiMen chart is able to form the Real Deception structure?
Q3. Which of the activity or outcome below is not what the Real Deception structure can help one to achieve?

So, what do you think? Can the Real Deception structure be of beneficial use to you? If so, do share with us the results in the Comment box below.
