Before you go for that job interview, make sure you get everything ready.
After applying to a couple of companies and forwarding your resume here and there, you receive a reply.
One of the companies is interested to meet you in person for a job interview. You agree and a date is set. So, you pick your best outfit, have your resume and portfolio printed, your speech ready, you’ve done your research and everything is set. What could go wrong?
On the day itself, you got lost. To make matters worse, you’re stuck in a traffic jam. You arrive late to the interview and things just go downhill from there. You forgot your scripted speech. In your rush, you end up looking dishevelled and forgot some important documents in the car. While some company might be sympathetic to your valid reasons, this company is not one of them.
One factor that a lot of prospective interviewees tend to overlook is to familiarize themselves with the place of the interview. Even if your GPS says that the place is a certain distance away, the time given to reach there is an estimation. With any estimation, it can be subjected to a number of factors. This is why before the interview itself, you need to do a “test run” and physically go to the company building and the correct estimation.
